APRIL 2, 2017 (So sorry that I have been remiss in sharing these blogs but life has been hectic with moving and getting settled in a new city and a new home. I also am in a cast on my right foot – 2 fractures – but they are healing and the sun is shining and the birds are singing and the lilacs are blooming and sure hope the rain is over for a while. God seems to have chosen to end most of our 5 year drought in one season! That all being said, I came across this wonderful writing from March of 1995. Richard titled it “Did I Wrestle With An Angel?” – I believe referring to what kept him up in the middle of the night listening to what God was telling him. It is a powerful message. Blessings to all, njp)
I woke up about 3 AM this morning and thoughts of Jesus entered my mind. Scriptures kept me awake and I kept repeating His sacred words over and over again. I then read a book I had started to read earlier on Saturday evening. It is a book on relying on the leading of the Holy Spirit by E.M.Bounds.
While reading, I thanked the Lord for all my blessings. I asked the Holy Spirit to take the reins of my life more sincerely than I had ever asked before. I asked that my words be anointed by the Holy Spirit. I want to be an effective person for the Lord and to help further the Kingdom of God.
I prayed that I would be Spirit led and Spirit fed on the Word of God. I asked the Lord to always be reminded that in all I do and say, He is as close to me as my elbows are to my arms. Lord, whenever I am ready to speak, let me pause first and then ask you, “What shall I say next? May I always speak in sincerity. Lord, give me a trained ear that I may close it to the world and it’s leadings and instead let me hear your ever beckoning Word.
You said I should ask of you but I usually make a mess of asking. With the Holy Spirit guiding me I will ask according to your will and that will not be denied.
Set me on fire for you, O Lord. Let me be a torch bearer for you! Lord, help me to be your helper.
In your Son Jesus name I ask these things. Thank you Lord.
